Colombia: This Is The Electoral Panorama In The Main Departmental Capitals

Candidates opposed to the Colombian Government lead the voting intention polls for the mayoralties in Bogotá, Medellín and Barranquilla, three of the four largest cities in the country, according to a survey published this Thursday.

In one month, on October 29, Colombians will elect mayors, governors, councilors and regional deputies in elections that will also be an indicator of the popularity of the Government of President Gustavo Petro, who came to office 14 months ago.

In the case of Bogotá, the survey by the Invamer firm reveals that the liberal Carlos Fernando Galán remains in the lead and grew from 26.6% in August to 32.9% in September.

He is followed by Gustavo Bolívar, of the Historical Pact, coalition of the Colombian president, Gustavo Petro, whose voting intention also rose, from 20.3% to 22.6%, and the independent Juan Daniel Oviedo, whose preference increased from 16.8% to 20.5%, according to the survey, contracted by Noticias Caracol, Blu Radio and the newspaper El Espectador.

If these percentages are maintained, a second round would be necessary in the Colombian capital, on November 19, between the first two who, everything indicates, would be Galán and Bolívar or Oviedo, the latter two in a technical tie in the survey.

In Medellín, Colombia's second city, the poll gives the favorite to former mayor Federico "Fico" Gutiérrez, who sought the Presidency in the last elections and is opposed to Petro, and whose voting intention rose in the last month from 63.3 % to 64.5%.

Behind Gutiérrez, at a great distance, appear the ruling party Juan Carlos Upegui, who had a rise from 11.2% to 14.8%, and Albert Corredor, who fell from 6.0% to 4.8%.

A similar situation occurs in Barranquilla, the main city in the Colombian Caribbean, where former mayor Alejandro Char, an opponent of Petro, is the absolute leader despite the fact that he had a decrease in his voting intention, going from 86.2% to 84.5%. % between August and September.

His closest rival is Antonio Bohórquez, who went from 5.9% to 6.2% in the last month.

This is how things go in Cali

In Cali, the largest city in the southwest of the country, Roberto Ortiz remains the favorite, who has the support of politicians close to the current mayor, Jorge Iván Ospina, himself an ally of Petro, but his voting intention fell from 43.8 % to 33.6%.

In second place is the independent Alejandro Eder, who rose from 15.8% to 23.1%, and behind him is Diana Carolina Rojas, who went from 10.7% to 13.1% in the last month and this week she gave up of his candidacy to support Eder.
