Multi-talented: celebrities who have won awards outside their industry

This has undoubtedly been the year of Lady Gaga. The singer has ventured into the world of cinema and now has two Oscar nominations. These two nominations show the duality of her career: she is nominated for Best Actress and Best Original Song for "Shallow". Thus, the artist is nominated, on the one hand, for her role as an actress and on the other as a singer and composer.

Quincy Jones

The legendary Quincy has won them all. The music producer from Chicago has been in some of the most important moments of American music of the twentieth and twenty-first century. He was, among many other things, arranger of Frank Sinatra and the director of the music video of "Thriller". It has shone behind the scenes and has worked with great musicians who have split the history of music in two.

He transcended his own work as a music producer and arranger to be also director of music videos, manager, producer of events, composer of soundtracks, etc. And he also has its own albums.

In addition, he is the most nominated celebrity to the Grammy awards: with 79 nominations, of which it has won 28 awards. But not only did he own this industry, but Quincy Jones has also been nominated seven times for the Academy Awards and has won an Emmy and a Tony. In such a way that Jones has been recognized in the music industry, cinema, television, and theater.

His compositions and arrangements for films, series and musicals have transcended the reach that the artist could ever imagine. It seems, moreover, that everything he touches wins awards, as the documentary about his life, directed and produced by his daughter, the actress Rashida Jones, won this year's Grammy for Best Film about music. At 85, Quincy does not stop winning.

Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan needs no introduction. He is considered one of the most important musicians in the history of popular music of the twentieth century. In the sixties, he achieved success with folk songs such as "Blowing in the Wind", and his first single, "Like a Rolling Stone", was considered the best song in history by Rolling Stone magazine.

He has won 13 Grammys for his more than 40 recordings and an Oscar for Best Original Song for "Wonder Boys". However, perhaps the most controversial award he won was in 2016, when the Swedish Academy awarded him the Nobel Prize in literature for "having created a new poetic expression within the great tradition of American song"

This bothered many since Dylan was not part of the literary elite among which is usually the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature. He is the first and only musician to have won this award and this has been one of the most risky decisions of the Swedish Academy. However, this, in addition to showing that Bob Dylan's career transcended the music industry, also demonstrated that literature transcends books and is also in songs. Dylan did not attend the awards ceremony and her friend Patti Smith, on the other hand, played on that occasion.

Audrey Hepburn

We all know who she is even though if we have not seen any of her films. This legendary Belgian actress conquered the screen from different perspectives in the golden age of Hollywood and is one of the most important female figures of cinema.

In addition to the screen, she also shone on stage, as she was a theatrical actress worthy of mention. During her career, she won an Emmy for her work in Gardens of the World with Audrey Hepburn in 1993, the year of her death; a Grammy for Best Album Spoken for Children by Audrey Hepburn's Enchanted Tales; an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Roman Holiday; and a Tony for her role in the play Ondine; in addition to some honorary awards that the Academy granted her in 1993.
