The NBC Universal streaming service will be launched in 2020
NBC Universal, of Comcast Corp's, will call its streaming service "Peacock," which will offer an extensive list of original content and will include "DrDeath," with Emmy winner and Golden Globe Alec Baldwin, the company said Tuesday.

The Peacock premiere, which will also offer classic comedies such as "The Office" and "Parks and Recreation," is scheduled for 2020, NBC Universal said. The company owns the traditional television network NBC, whose logo represents a peacock.
The service will compete with streaming giant Netflix Inc. and with the next Walt Disney Co., Disney + service, as well as other digital subscription options, while traditional media companies seek to attract viewers online.

Details about pricing and distribution will be announced closer to the launch, the media company said.
Reuters reported in January that an ad-free version of the NBC service would be available for about the same price as other subscription video services.
Peacock will also have other programs such as a new version of "Battlestar Galactica" and the original comedy "Rutherford Falls," the company said.
