Chile's Bachelet hits new low approval rating

Chile President Michelle Bachelet’s approval rating reached a new low of 24% in the latest weekly tracking poll conducted by Cadem.

Chile President Michelle Bachelet’s approval rating reached a new low of 24% in the latest weekly tracking poll conducted by Cadem.

The poll was taken between 10 June and 12 June.

This was the third consecutive weekly drop in the approval level; meanwhile, the level of disapproval or rejection rose to 65% from 62% in the preceding weekly poll, and from 49% at the start of the year.

The level of rejection of the education, fiscal and labor reforms made new highs of 69%, 58% and 50%, respectively.

President Bachelet’s cabinet was also poorly rated in the latest poll, with 69% of those polled disapproving its performance, and only 18% approving it.
