Executives from about 30 countries and the European Union are expected to participate in Colombiamoda, one of the most important fashion industry events in Latin America, thanks to the free trade agreements signed by Colombia, officials said.
Colombiamoda, which will take place July 23-25 in the northwestern city of Medellin, is expected to draw buyers from the United States, Chile, the European Union, Mexico, Canada, Israel, Russia, Japan, China, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and several Latin American and Asian countries, Colombia's Proexport trade promotion agency said.
"Of the 297 participants from these markets, 245 are new, that is, 81 percent," Proexport chief Maria Claudia Lacouture said in a statement.
The United States, which implemented a free trade agreement with Colombia a year ago, is the country with the most participants at Colombiamoda, with 130, of whom 105 are attending for the first time, Proexport said.
