Originally from Cucuta, María Camila Osorio has awarded Colombia another victory in Tennis. After the pair composed of Robert Farah and Juan Sebastián Cabal won the final in Wimbledon and the recent version of the US Open, Osorio was crowned champion of the junior version of the American competition.

Osorio, only 17 years old, advanced to the finals of the tournament after defeating Russian tennis player Oksana Slekhmeteva. The Colombian recovered from a first set in which she was losing 0-3. According to Osorio's statements and compiled by RCN, “I focused on mine performance and I needed to calm down when the opponent is playing very well. I had a nuisance in the adductor and I was treated by a physio. I try my best and everything came out to qualify for the final. ”

In this way, the Colombian, and who is number eight in the world rankings, recovered in the game that lasted two hours and 17 minutes with a score of 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-4. According to Fedecoltenis, Osorio became the second Colombian to qualify for a singles final of a Grand Slam Junior and the first in the Us Open Junior.

This is how Osorio went to the finals of this tournament. The final, played against the American player Alexandra Yepifanova, lasted just 48 minutes in which Osorio won by partial 6-0 and 6-1, “to win her most important trophy in the youth category in the year where she closes this cycle for start fully in professionalism ”, as stated by Fedecoltenis.

In statements delivered to El Tiempo, the Colombian congratulated her rival "who made a great game and made a great tournament, which brought her to this final."
