Leer en español: Escuderías que persiguen a Redbull en la Fórmula Uno

It is no secret to anyone that the Red Bull team is completely dominating this Formula One season. Led by Max Verstappen and with the help of Mexican Sergio Pérez, they have won 10 of the 14 races that have taken place. What's more, apart from Red Bull, only Ferrari has had major victories this season.

Ferrari, a lot of room to improve

The disparity between the competitors is beginning to be evident even among themselves. Carlos Sainz, Ferrari driver, admitted that the differences are wide and there are several fields to improve. After the event at Spa-Francorchamps, the driver admitted that “we just weren't strong enough compared to them; They were on another planet this weekend. They were strong in qualifying, strong in the race, better at handling the tyres, stronger on the straights, stronger in the corners, in some of them, and unfortunately we weren't quick enough."

Being Ferrari the only team that is doing some kind of competition to Redbull, it is also worth analyzing the aspects that can be improved outside of the machines and the race as such. For example, your decision-making could improve quite a bit. This was an aspect that was highlighted negatively in the last event in Spa, where the team's engineers constantly questioned the drivers about what type of tires they wanted, when they wanted to stop and how they wanted to approach the race tactically. In a sport where every second counts, these decisions need to be made faster, or at least there should be a clearer chain of command.

Mercedes, a season to forget?

On the other hand, it is impossible to talk about the great season that Max Verstappen is having without highlighting the terrible season that 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is facing. It may be that his age has finally made him reach the limit of his talent, as for the first time in the history of his career, he has not achieved a single victory so far this season. At 37 years old, it is difficult to maintain a resume as impeccable as the one the Briton has with Formula One.

This last race at Spa, which he was unable to finish due to an accident, has only made things even more difficult for the Mercedes team. Hamilton has assured that the problem resides in his car, that he feels as if he is "dragging a parachute" and that his vehicle does not have enough drag. He also claims the problem to be that RedBull's vehicles can simply take fast corners faster than those in his team.

It's strange to think that just last year, Hamilton was going head-to-head with Max Verstappen and is currently sitting in sixth place, running worse than team-mate George Russell. The Briton has admitted that losing the championship to Verstappen last year took a toll on him mentally. Will that block continue in your head?
