The world of rock is made up of great musical bands. The truth is that, historically, there have been many men who led the most important groups in history: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Who, AC/DC, Oasis…among others.

However, that doesn't mean that there are not many women who are currently very influential in international rock. In this case, we will show you those artists who marked an era by leading great bands, but who also continue to make great compositions right now. Let's see more.

Gwen Stefani

One of the most impressive of today. She began her career as the singer of No Doubt: a rock band influenced by ska and new wave, which achieved fame in their third album, in 1995, which featured a song titled "Don't Speak." The song quickly became one of the best known worldwide.

Over the years, the singer decided to "take a break" from this iconic band to start her solo career. There she would also achieve an impressive success: with her first album, known as "Love. Angel. Music. Baby." would be consecrated as an eclectic singer, where she would keep the bases of No Doubt, although she would add a pop style and even fascinating hip-hop, with songs like Hollaback Girl.

The most curious thing of all is that Gwen Stefani is 51 years old, but physically and energetically she looks 20 years younger, something that her fans always point out, according to Hello Magazine. Her latest work was "Slow Cap," where she appeared accompanied by rapper Saweetie and she is seen in all her splendor, although with much more moving and less powerful rhythms.

Ideal for getting into the world of rock, as her group facet includes combinations of musical genres, while her solo part is closer to pop.

Hayley Williams

Talking about Hayley Williams implies making reference to one of the most important pop punk and alternative rock bands in history. In 2003 Hayley Williams had signed a contract with Atlantic Records as a solo singer, but she admitted that she did not want to be a "pop princess," but wanted to challenge the status quo to become the leader of a band.

The truth is that she succeeded: since 2005, with Paramore's debut album, "All We Know Is Falling," she began to stand out on the international scene, with a style that would become unmistakable among the audience, with songs like "Misery Business," from the second album, known as "Riot!"

The last work of this band was "After Laughter," from 2017, where the band showed an alternative dance style, although, according to AltPress, a new album could be released this year. Anyway, in the last two years Hayley Williams released her first two solo albums: "Petals for Armor" (2020) and "Flower for Vases / Descansos" (2021), with styles closer to folk.

A perfect artist if you are passionate about punk rock in band, but also a more intimate facet in solo.

Joan Jett

Here we have one of the historical ones. She began her career in the female hard rock band The Runaways, with a first eponymous album released in 1976. The truth is that it would only take a couple of years to release her first big hit: "I Love Rock 'n Roll," a song written by Alan Merrill in 1975, but popularized by this singer when she was part of The Blackhearts.

This song made it to the list of the best 100 songs of the 20th Century, according to The National Endowment for the Arts, and it even occupies the 484th position of the 500 most successful songs of the Rolling Stones, so it still remains as a real hit.

After two solo steps in 1980 and 1981 (that is, after separating from the formation with The Runaways) the truth is that she remained with The Blackhearts, where she had managed to get that hit song. The last work released was "Unvanished," in 2013, which maintains the hard rock essence that characterizes this artist.

This singer is ideal for those who love traditional and heavy rock.

Amy Lee

Finally, Amy Lee appears, another of the most iconic of the last years. She is the vocalist of the American alternative metal band known as Evanescence, which had its first album in 2000, with "Origin." There would emerge one of her most iconic creations: "My Immortal," an impressive work that brushes the genres of gothic rock and pop.

In their second album they would also get a song that would cause a furor among fans: "Bring Me To Life," a tragic song that managed to sell more than 7 million copies worldwide and became the best-selling single of 2003. The last work in this group was this year, when they released "The Bitter Truth."

It is worth mentioning that in 2006 she was chosen within the top 100 best vocalists of all time according to Hit Parade magazine. She also launched as a soloist in 2014, with an album known as "Aftermath." By 2016 she released her latest solo work, which is known as "Dream Too Much."

If you are a fan of tragic rock, you definitely need to listen to it.

We hope you liked all these amazing artists!
