Travelzoo, one of the most important tourist promotion portals on the internet, included Colombia among its list of most recommended destinations to visit during 2013, together with locations such as New Zealand, Ireland and the Niagara falls.
The portal, with over 25 million subscribers in the world which receive the best tourist offerings of the moment, selected Colombia as one of the five "latest industry trends and projections" destinations with a favorable prospect.
According to the web site, the inventory of favorites for 2013 was prepared by a group of investigators that analyze thousands of offers to find those that provide added value for travelers.
Colombia was defined as an "emerging center of Latin America", which has received hotel chains such as Hilton and Marriot, in addition to Jet Blue and LAN airlines, during the past few years.
"This acknowledgment confirms the importance of Colombia as a tourist destination abroad. Each day more tourists set their eyes on our country to find a source of unique and innovative experiences", said Mar__a Claudia Lacouture, chairwoman of Proexport Colombia.
This is not the first time the country has been mentioned in this type of portal. Last May, Trip Advisor did this with San Andres and Santa Marta, with beaches that were ranked as the "best beaches to visit around he world", based on the comments, observations and classifications published by millions of readers during 2011.
More recently, at the beginning of November, Colombia obtained the maximum prize in the "Long Distance Revelation Destination" category awarded by the British tourism operators within the framework of the London World Tourism Fair (England) where Proexport participated with 19 Colombian companies.
The tourist promotion strategy of the country lead by Proexport includes its participation in the most important fairs of the sector in the world, and an invitation to specialized journalists who have published almost 13 thousand articles about Colombia between 2010 and 2012.
