Cuba, Mexico, and Venezuela: the countries with the most participants
Three countries lead the number of participants of the XXIII edition of the Central American and Caribbean Games Barranquilla 2018, which begin on Thursday, July 19. To the capital of the Atlantic arrives in Cuba, the country with the most victories in the history of the competition. In this regard, Alfredo Castillo, director of the Conade, sports institute of Mexico, told the media that "it has been exerted almost 350 million pesos; 150 million for the participation of events, 120 million for the payment of coaches, multidisciplinary team and sports scholarships, 75 million for the direct participation of our athletes in the city of Barranquilla."
Behind the Cubans and Mexicans is Venezuela, which will arrive in with a delegation of 400 athletes to Colombia. The Ministry of Communication and Information announced that its athletes will be participating in 20 sports and it is estimated that the greatest successes would come from competitions such as weightlifting, baseball, and taekwondo.
