Maybe in Latin America his name is not very striking, because it is already in the mouth of the most prestigious clubs in Europe after his 16 goals in the Bundesliga

Who is Luka Jovic? The goal scorer that everyone wants in Europe

As a young man, Jovic had already shown his appetite for goals, being the youngest goalscorer of the Red Star of Belgrade, the most successful club in both Serbia and the former Yugoslavia. He managed to be crowned as a scorer with only 16 years, surpassing the mythical Dejan Stankovic, who has been retired for five years. In the minor selections of that country, he was also an indispensable man.

Two years after his debut with Red Star, Benfica quickly secured him on his official payroll in 2016, his value was around one million euros. However, he had no more two appearances from the bench in the Portuguese league, without scoring a goal. The following year he was transferred for two years to Eintracht Frankfurt, half board team of the Bundesliga, with an option to be bought for 14 million.

In his first season, under the orders of the now Bavarian coach Niko Kovac, he managed to step on the field more in official games and managed to score nine goals, one of those being the decisive goal for Eintracht to reach the final of the DFB- Pokal that in the end would see Las Águilas beat the colossus Bayern Munich. Unfortunately, the Serbian did not dispute a minute of the final.

The following season, already under the orders of Adi Hütter, the Serbian enjoyed being almost always a starter, and so far he has achieved more than he has promised. Among the many feats he has made this season, he includes being the youngest player to score five goals in the same game (against Fortuna Düsseldorf) and score the only goal in the Europa League round of 32 series – competition in which he has seven goals, two less than the leader Giroud- against Inter Milan, nothing more nor less than in the San Siro. And what a great goal ! In the last 16 he will face the team he officially remains, Benfica.

When he arrived at the German team, his value was close to four million, now they say he is not going for less than sixty! As usual in the world of football, the rumors were immediate and there are already supposed interests of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City, among others, according to the well-known newspaper Marca. But will it be a beginner's luck, or are we seeing the next Luis Suárez?

He is neither very tall nor very fast nor very strong, but he always knows where to be and he knows perfectly how to hit the ball so that it ends in a goal, even with both legs – this year he has nine goals with his right leg, ten with his left and four of head-. In addition, several of his goals have been achieved either by winning the ball to the opposing defender, from difficult angles and even stinging with mischief. By his way of playing, he is nicknamed the Serbian Falcao, because of the Colombian best moment with the Aleti.

We know that the Bundesliga is not a very attractive league because of the unbeatable dominance of Bayern, and seeing a half-table team is not very attractive, but we recommend with all our strength to see the matches where the Serbian is holder. They are playing great, they are fifth to a few dates of finishing the league. In addition the confrontation against Benfica promises to be as exciting as impressive, as Benfica is still the owner of the rights of this player. Hopefully this player does not become another failed promise, as was Nelson Oliveira or Hugo Rodallega.
