“Las Babas de La Luna” Art and Pedagogy to Transform the World

Created two years ago, it has a purpose to form a sensitive community to transform the world, through artistic expression.

“Las Babas de la Luna”, is a project of artistic training, in theater, dance, music, that was born with the idea of creating a laboratory that would allow the community a union with artistic expression, and the full development of "being". It is located in the El Recodo neighborhood of the locality of Fontibón.

The objective of the laboratory, according to its co-founder and theater student, Benjamin Aleman, is "that through artistic free expression, people focus on building community, through art." In theatrical training, they include techniques, clown, circus, stage voice, where every Sunday, teachers of universities and academies, come to share their knowledge, regardless of age, where, both teachers and students, become friends. They add their philosophy: "No one is so empty in the world that they have nothing to teach and nothing to learn."

The group describes their work as "exciting" and "significant." In each of their works, they transmit their message of affection and happiness, to the public. Each presentation must include game, suspense, emotion, that has the possibility to change the world, from all perspectives. "The beauty of theatre, they add, "is that they transform the qualities, feelings, and thoughts of practitioners, forming sensitivity to the world and its problems."

In the future, its co-founder as projected, as space where permitted the birth of purposes, and discoveries of being itself, and transmitting its message of respectful dialog and creative with the body and its environment throughout the country. They want to include, populations such as older adults, people in disability, youth people, children, and early childhood.

They have two stage plays, "The Hat Is More Than Straw", based on Caribbean juggling and folklore, and "The Skeleton Speaker", which speaks of punk and street art. They want to create in the future, more staging of plays, including the theme, "street and traditional". In conclusion, it's a great project, which has made it "an interesting workshop that helps discover skills you felt you didn't have." They invite the whole community to be part of their theater workshops on Sundays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, and contemporary dance, on Saturdays from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, in the Theatre Hall, of the "Conjunto Senderos de La Estancia I".
